Sweet Dreams – A Pillowcase Service Opportunity

Our stake is making bright and colorful pillowcases for children that have been through very
difficult circumstances. While there are many worthy organizations, our initial donations will be
given to the Houston Family Transfer center. These pillowcases will remind the children each
time they rest their head at night that someone cares about THEM.

The Family Transfer Center has been set up in Houston to help refugee families that have been
legally cleared at the border. It is an amazing partnership with other charities and gives families a
safe place to rest before they meet up with their extended family or sponsors.

Our Goal is to make 200 cheerful pillowcases (100 by the end of August and another 100 by the
end of September). We will deliver our first batch once we have 50 pillowcases completed. A link
with full instructions for sewing a basic pillowcase with pictures is provided. You are welcome to
use another method or pattern if you prefer but please keep the same dimensions. If you want to
donate fabric for others to sew, each pillowcase only requires 3/4 yard of print fabric and 1/3
yard of a coordinating fabric (100% cotton or cotton blends work best).
